More Australian Group Success for Per Incanto

Per Incanto’s run of success in Australian this spring continued on Saturday as his exciting five-year-old Gringotts added more black type to his imposing resume, when he defied another wide draw and top weight of 60kgs to win the 1600m $1.1 million Group 3 The Gong at Kembla Grange in NSW on Saturday.

Bred by Northland’s Totara Park Stud and sold privately after winning a trial for Simon and Katrina Alexander last year, Gringotts record now stands at nine wins and seven placings from 17 career starts, with his last ten starts producing seven wins and three placings, for stake earnings of over Australian $3 million.

Per Incanto’s Australian progeny earning of $5.64 million this season have him inside the top ten on the Australian Sires premiership.

A multiple Australian stakes winner, Gringotts is likely to have one more start this campaign in the 1600m $2 million Group 2 The Ingham on December 13, before spelling with the stable indicating that his principal autumn target will be the 1600m Group 1 The Doncaster.

Closer to home, Marotiri Molly produced an outstanding effort for third in the Group 2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Pukekohe on Saturday. Making her stakes debut, and having her first run right-handed, the lightly raced six-year-old Per Incanto mare, who was coming off three consecutive wins, powered home from last at the home turn, beaten a head and a short half head.

Buzz’s crazy ads, but on a slightly more serious note, how the family have continued to produce sound, genuine and class performers is testimony to the family and their staffs dedication and horsemanship.
