Time Test Stakes Winner @ The Championships

Saturday, 13 April 2024 22:11

Time Test 3YO Panic (Time Test-Daniela’s Magic by Per Incanto) became the seventh individual stakes winner for his sire when he won the Listed 1400m South Pacific Championship on the second day of the championships at Randwick on Saturday.

Bred by JML Bloodstock, Panic was purchased by Paul Moroney and Michael Wallace for $80k from the 2022 Karaka Book 1 Sale. Michael Wallace obviously knows a good Time Test yearling when he sees one, having purchased this season’s multiple winner and Listed Ming Dynasty Quality runner-up Pushy from the same sale for $60,000.

Panic capped an excellent week for Lib Petagna, the principal of JML Bloodstock. Lib’s new farm Elsdon Park had a fantastic debut sale at Sydney Easter, with it’s three horse draft realising A$1.6million, including $650k for the Per Incanto-Dreamlife colt.

The Michael Freedman trained gelding has had six starts for four wins and a third placing, for stake earnings of $179k.

Meanwhile, on this side of the Tasman on Saturday, Sauvage (Time Test-Smitten Kitten by Volksraad) won over 1600m at Riccarton, coming from second last at the turn in the 18-horse field.

Not to be outdone by his barnmate, Per Incanto had two winners at Otaki on Saturday. The highlight was the ninth career success for the dual stakeswinner Lightning Jack (Per Incanto-La Petite by Savabeel), taking his career stake earnings to $433k.

A real sense of stockmanship and a love of the animal. When our mares arrive back from LA, they look like they’ve had a month at Club Med, with some of the trimmings of the buffet, but also the glow of having had the attention of a personal trainer
